Finnische Sauna

Sauna ist ein Bad in heißer, trockener Luft (bei Temperatur zw. 60° - 90°C und niedriger Luftfeuchtigkeit zw. 10 – 30%).
Die Lufttemperatur in der Sauna ist typisch – nach der Abstufung der einzelnen Bänke aufgeteilt (nah am Boden ist die Temperatur am niedrigsten, ca. 40°C, unter der Decke ist sie am höchsten, bis 110°C). Im Durchschnitt soll sie bei einer Höhe von 150 cm und einer Entfernung von 100cm von der Wärmequelle einen Wert von 80°C erreichen, die relative Luftfeuchtigkeit soll die Grenze von 15% nicht übersteigen. Unter diesen Bedingungen sind die Verdunstung vom Schweiß und die Abkühlung des Körpers optimal. Ein untrennbarer Teil des Saunierens ist die darauffolgende Abkühlung mit kaltem Wasser (Guss, Duschen, Tauchbad und Schwimmen).
Dieser Zyklus wiederholt sich 2 – 3 mal und wird mit Ausruhen oder Spazieren beendet. Während des Saunaganges kann eine manuelle Hautreizung angewendet werden (leichte Schläge mit einem Bündel weicher Birkenzweige), was eine Histaminreaktion und Erweiterung der Kapillaren hervorruft. Ein Bestandteil des Saunierens sind auch sog. Dampfstöße (plötzliche Erhöhung der Luftfeuchtigkeit, z.B. durch das Begießen heißer Steine mit Wasser), wodurch die Verdunstung vom Schweiß geändert und die Körperkerntemperatur weiter erhöht wird. Sauna unterstützt die Abhärtung des Organismus, ist geeignet als Prävention gegen Krankheiten, die als Folge von Unterkühlung entstehen, hat einen positiven Einfluss auf funktionale Kreislaufstörungen, leichte Rheumaerkrankungen und manche Allergiekrankheiten.
Empfohlene Zeiten: 20 Minuten Saunieren, 5 Minuten Abkühlung + Schlagen, 15 Minuten Saunieren + Dampfstoß, 5 Minuten Abkühlung + Schlagen (insgesamt 60 Minuten), anschließende Ruhe nach Saunieren 60 Minuten. Es kommt auch zur Verstärkung des Immunsystems, das besonders nach schweren infektiösen Erkrankungen abgeschwächt wurde.
